Purnamadah: The Mantra of Perfection

Purnamadah: The Mantra of Perfection

A workshop facilitated by Jakob Weise and Vijay Shyam

We warmly invite you to join us for The Mantra of Perfection, a healing workshop that explores the meaning of the human longing for oneness. Through guided meditation, dialogue, and chanting the ancient Purnamadah Mantra of wholeness, we will seek the answer to this longing.

The Mantra

The mantra is a powerful declaration of non-duality and completeness, often recited as a peace chant. It is found in the Yajur Veda and the Isha Upanishad, one of the foundational texts of Vedanta philosophy. It serves as an invocation of the infinite and a reminder that the individual self (this) and the universal reality (that) are both expressions of the same whole. The mantra asserts that even when a part of the whole is taken away, the whole remains eternally complete and undiminished.

Devanagari:

Western Transliteration:

oṃ pūrṇam adaḥ pūrṇam idaṃ pūrṇāt pūrṇam udacyate pūrṇasya pūrṇam ādāya pūrṇam evāvaśiṣyate oṃ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ

Translation:

"That is whole. This is whole" (oṃ pūrṇam adaḥ pūrṇam idaṃ)

"From the whole, the whole becomes manifest” (pūrṇāt pūrṇam udacyate)

"From the whole, when the whole is subtracted, what remains is again the whole" (pūrṇasya pūrṇam ādāya pūrṇam evāvaśiṣyate)

Yajur Veda and the Isha Upanishad

What to Expect

  • A Shared Conversation – We open with a short meditation and a heartfelt dialogue about how our beliefs, attachments, and desires shape the human condition—and the longing that lies beneath them.

  • Guided Meditation – An invitation to explore your personal experience of incompleteness and connect with the universal sense of wholeness.

  • Chanting the Mantra – Together, we will unfold the meaning of this ancient mantra and learn to chant it. Its sound is both a practice and an opening—a way to move beyond the restless mind and rest in a sense of completeness.

This workshop is for anyone drawn to mantra, meditation, and the deep inner journey toward healing and self-knowledge.

We look forward to sharing this practice with you.
